GROUP VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The most relaxing volunteer job in San Diego! Assist our gardeners by pulling weeds, watering plants, and performing various other duties to maintain the garden. No previous gardening experience required and scheduling is flexible.

All group applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • 5 or more participants

  • Must be 16 years or older

SAMPLE PROJECTS

Special Events activity includes

  • Green Team (Educate the public about proper recycling)

  • Cooking, Serving, and Cashiering

  • Craft


Gardening Group Projects can include…

  • Beautification or renovation projects

  • Planting

  • Weeding and maintenance


Composting Volunteering

Majority of JFGM waste is green waste from tree trimming and garden maintenance.
Composting helps us to achieve a 75% waste diversion rate​ and zero waste events.​
The compost becomes fertile to be used as soil​ and helps our plant to grow.​ ​

  • ​​Learn about sustainability practice at Japanese Friendship Garden & Museum

  • The schedule is flexible, but must be on Monday - Thursday, anytime between 8:30 am and 3:30 pm. (Friday and Sunday are available

  • Must be at least 16 years or older (at least one adult must accompany with a group if volunteers are 18 years or under)

Composting Group Projects can include…

  • Shifting and get the soil ready to be used in the garden soil

  • Rotating
