Activities

Ever been to Japan? Wondering what to expect? Come take a journey to Japan through our new Virtual Reality experience! From Kyoto to Tokyo, JFGM can offer the opportunity to walk the streets of Japan and see what wonders await.

1,000 origami cranes are a symbol of peace. In honor of World Peace Day, the Japanese Friendship Garden and Museum will ship all of the origami cranes folded to the Children's Peace Monument at Peace Memorial Park in Hiroshima City, Japan. The origami cranes will eventually be displayed at the Children's Peace Monument. Come help our mission to make 1000 paper cranes as a symbol of peace.

Go (aka Igo) is an ancient game of strategy played by scholars 2,500 years ago. Originating from China, Go is one of the oldest board games played by people around the world. The person who surrounds the most territory is the winner!

How much does it cost for activities?

Most activities are free on a first come, first served basis. Donations help JFGM continue to provide free activities for the Education Center.

Is the Education Center open on any other days?

The garden holds various of scheduled programs inside the Education Center! Be sure to check them out on our Programs Page for more info.

Can I reserve the Education Center for a field trip or group activity?

For Field Trips- Please refer to our field trip webpage on policies, followed by our field trip request form to see what programs are available.

For Business/Private Groups- If you’re interested in scheduling a program or class just for your group, please email Alex Horn at education@niwa.org for more information.
