"Harmony in Imperfection: Exploring the Art of Japanese Tradition"

In Japan, there is a belief that there is beauty, balance, and peace to be found in imperfection. By accepting and embracing imperfection, people can achieve harmony, peace, and happiness within themselves. We advocate the idea that wellness is reached not by striving for perfection, but by recognizing perceived flaws and working with it.

Through these interrelated traditions of tea ceremony, kintsugi, go, and kamishibai, the Japanese Friendship Garden and Museum explores the underlying principles of harmony, self-care, and appreciation for the transience of existence.

Adopting feelings of harmony, peace, and well-being by acknowledging imperfections promotes the idea that wellness can be achieved when one accepts and embraces imperfections rather than striving for perfection.
